A Sagittarius New Moon is our lead story this week. It’s energized by lots of outer planet aspects, and features a most intriguing Sabian Symbol.
Learning and communication are empowered by three Mercury aspects, Vesta and Pallas Athena oppose slower planets, and Mars enters Libra for an unusually long stay!
December’s New Moon occurs on 12/2 at 7:22 PM (10°59′ Sagittarius). New beginnings in higher education, immersion in foreign cultures, religion and meaning of life are energized. So are enthusiasm, joy, celebration, generosity and exuberance!
This New Moon is energized by aspects from most of the slowest planets. These include a Uranus trine, Chiron sextile, and Pluto semi-sextile. Release everything that doesn’t serve you, especially in the areas mentioned above. Embrace healing, mentoring and revolutionary transformation, and trust your intuitive flashes.
Most of the asteroid goddesses also aspect this New Moon. Sextiles from Vesta and Ceres empower devotion to higher causes, prosperity and self-esteem. And a square from Pallas Athena challenges you to more deeply embody strategic thinking, practical creativity and feminine assertiveness.
This New Moon’s Sabian Symbol is, “In the left section of an archaic temple, a lamp burns in a container shaped like a human body.” This lamp can represent the inextinguishable divine flame — our true being — that animates our transitory three-dimensional vehicles. “Left” signifies our receptive polarity, while the “archaic temple” signifies the ancient religions that help their adherents experience their true spiritual essence.
Learning and communication is energized with Scorpionic Mercury sextile Virgoan Mars. This aspect can allow you to communicate challenging or hidden truths with precision. Just remember to do so with compassion and sensitivity!
Mercury is in Sagittarius today through 12/24. This is an excellent time to think big and communicate exuberantly. Just remember that there may be other truths equal to or better than the ones that you are currently aware of.
No major astrology events today.
Stay open to flashes of information or inner guidance relating to the greater cause(s) to which you’re devoted. With Vesta opposing Uranus, this could be a time when paradigm shifts in these areas are called for.
One use of the opposition between Virgoan Pallas Athena and Chiron is mentorship of strategic planning. This aspect can also support healing the wounds produced by conflict and the refinement of practical creativity.
Mental confusion is a common manifestation of a Mercury-Neptune square. But this aspect also supports the “just-in-time” intuitive downloads that can prop up a stumbling intellect. With Mercury in Sagittarius, you can also enjoy augmented inspiration relating to spirituality, philosophy, ideas from foreign cultures and more.
Even though he averages two months per sign, Mars will camp out in Libra today all the way through 7/25! His unusually long stay is because he will spend his next retrograde (starting on 3/1) entirely within the Sign of the Scales. Mars in Libra supports new beginnings and rekindled energy in relationships, creative expression, balance, harmony and equilibrium.
Ready for revolutionary transformation in how you serve a higher cause? Then, as I wrote in my 11/24 forecast, stay flexible and open to your inner guidance during the T-square formed by Vesta, Uranus and Pluto. It began on 11/24, peaks today and ends on 12/21.
You may be called to take your service to a new level. Or, on the opposite extreme, you may be called to abandon your current path and switch to something completely new. Let the waxing or waning of your enthusiasm guide you.
It’s best to avoid starting important new projects or making major purchases during void-of-course Moons. “Business as usual” is the optimal strategy. Void-of-course Moons occur when the Moon has made her last major Ptolemaic aspect, but has not yet moved into her next sign.
