A Cancer Full Moon illuminates the sky this week, followed by the Sun’s entry into Aquarius.
Mind your relationships and celebrate your creativity with a Venus-Mars square. And strive to balance the assertive and receptive aspects of your feminine nature as Juno and Pallas Athena oppose each other within an enhanced Mystic Rectangle.
Inspired thinking on practical matters is supported with Aquarian Mercury quintile Saturn.
No major astrological events.
January’s Full Moon shines forth on 1/15 at 11:52 PM (25°58′ Cancer). Reflect on how “full-filled” you are with your emotions, family situation, nurturing and security.
With the Full Moon loosely opposing Capricornian Venus, take stock of whether you’re getting a sufficient return on investment in your most important relationships. With the Moon more tightly square Ceres and Vesta, see if it’s time to turn a corner on your self-esteem or devotion to a higher cause.
Don’t be surprised if opportunities for emotional or psychological healing come up with the Moon sesquiquadrate Chiron. Fortunately a comfortable level of foundational support is available thanks to a trine from Saturn.
The Sabian Symbol for this lunation is, “Guests are reading in the library of a luxurious home.” This suggests allowing yourself to be comfortable while exploring new concepts.
(If this Sabian Symbol seems familiar, it’s because I erroneously used it for the 12/17 Full Moon. I have retroactively corrected that Sabian Symbol to be, “Winter frost in the woods.” I apologize for the error.)
A Venus-Mars square can catalyze relationship conflict. With Venus in Capricorn and Mars in Libra, issues may arise around practicality and fairness. On the high side, this square can fire up romantic passion and creative fire.
Intuitive flashes with practical applications may be popping with the Capricornian Sun quintile Uranus.
The Mystic Rectangle aspect pattern that started on 12/27 gains a new layer of meaning as a fifth planet joins it today. This enhanced aspect pattern peaks on 1/27 (five days after the original four-planet version comes to a crescendo), but both Mystic Rectangles end on 2/4. This five-planet lineup adds Juno to Pallas Athena, Jupiter, Chiron and Pluto.
The centerpiece of this enhanced aspect pattern is the opposition between Juno and Pallas Athena. The meaning of these two asteroid goddesses is strikingly different.
Juno the Queen represents marriage and commitment, fertility and sexuality. Pallas Athena, the Sacred Warrior, represents feminine assertiveness, strategic cunning and practical creativity.
This flowing Mystic Rectangle is an opportunity for you to harmonize these different ways of using feminine power. It’s also a chance to bring healing (Chiron) and transformation (Pluto) into any of these areas of your life.
Intuitive flashes and brilliant thinking are abundantly available as Aquarian Mercury sextiles Uranus.
There may be some confusion around the best use of sexuality and assertiveness in relationships with Libran Mars sesquiquadrate Neptune. You may get your best guidance on this from your intuition. This aspect can also energize creative inspiration and soul blending with those you’re close to.
Some people might experience nervousness or mental agitation with Aquarian Mercury quincunx Jupiter. But focusing on your intuitive flashes and your unique way of thinking can open you to a cavalcade of new insights. Just be careful to only share your brilliant ideas with those who are genuinely interested.
The Sun enters Aquarius today, radiating uniqueness, intuitive flashes, “freak flags flying” and humanitarian service.
It’s best to avoid starting important new projects or making major purchases during void-of-course Moons. “Business as usual” is the optimal strategy. Void-of-course Moons occur when the Moon has made her last major Ptolemaic aspect, but has not yet moved into her next sign.
