The Uranus-Pluto Square, the decade’s biggest Western astrology event, once again heats up revolutionary transformation. A Sagittarius lunar eclipse offers expansive energy and altered states. And four Mercury aspects join a host of other astrological events in this highly eventful week!
Buckle your seat belt. One rarely sees a week kick off with such a momentous event!
The ongoing Uranus-Pluto square is the biggest Western astrology event of the decade! Its energy of revolutionary transformation will make the 2010s feel like the 60s Part 2 before they’re done.
The first of these momentous squares was in 2012, and today marks its third exact lineup. There will be a total of seven Uranus-Pluto squares thru 2015.
How can you make the best use of this epic aspect? In a nutshell, release everything that does not propel your transformation and evolution forward, and joyously embody the unique identity you came here to express.
Are you willing to become an intuitively guided instrument of divine service? To awaken into the inexpressible magnificence of the divine being that you really are? If so, the Uranus-Pluto square can bless you with an electrifying empowerment beyond your wildest imagination!
This square perfects with Uranus at 11°14′ Aries and Pluto at 11°14′ Capricorn. So they are transmitting their energy of revolutionary transformation most powerfully to whatever lies between 8° and 14° in the cardinal signs of your natal chart. The cardinal signs are Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn. (Points between 8° and 14° in non-cardinal signs are also affected, but less intensely.)
In your life, you’ll feel this potent energy hitting home in the areas represented by these points in your natal chart. To give two examples: if the natal point in question is at 8°, the Uranus-Pluto effect has already run for about three years and is now wrapping up. If the point is at 14°, the Uranus-Pluto effect is just now ramping up, and has three years to go.
Other Monday Aspects
Getting emotionally triggered by some of your close relationships? That’s par for the course with Venus square Chiron. Seek mentoring and/or healing if you’re having such issues. Or you can mentor or heal others if you’re so inclined.
The Sun enters Gemini today, empowering the absorption and sharing of information. A love of variety, the archetype of the Eternal Child, and a touch of the trickster can also be stimulated.
Feeling the urge to adjust situations by telling the unvarnished truth about them? This can be strong with Geminian Mercury quincunx Pluto. But remember that how you communicate information, including body language and vocal tone, creates a much stronger impression than the words themselves. A healthy dose of diplomacy and sensitivity to your listener’s reactions can go a long way toward helping you achieve your goals.
Geminian Mercury also sextiles Uranus today. This flowing, energizing aspect can amp up your mind’s ability to receive intuitive flashes. Ingenious ideas and brilliant solutions are also easier to come by.
The Vesta-Saturn-Chiron Grand Trine that started on 5/11 peaks today. This can empower Law of Attraction work, sacred sexuality, the occult, enlightenment practices, healing and mentoring. Learn more about this Grand Trine.
Watch out for wounding words with Geminian Mercury square Chiron. But this aspect can also empower mentoring and healing. It’s also a great time to fine-tune your writing and thinking.
The Vesta-Uranus-Pluto T-Square that started on 5/6 peaks today, as Vesta opposes Pluto and squares Uranus.
As I wrote in my 5/6 forecast, Vesta fundamentally represents the higher calling, beyond your selfish interests, to which you devote yourself. This T-square can either call you to find a new object for your devotion, or make some kind of breakthrough in your current devotional path.
Ready for some exuberant communication in your relationships? Feeling inspired to do some creative writing, or pinball through a variety of creative expressions? It’s all supported as Mercury and Venus conjoin in Gemini.
Lunar Eclipse (Full Moon) in Sagittarius
Eclipses, which occur every six months, usually come in pairs. But this spring we have three!
At its basic level, a lunar eclipse is like a Full Moon on steroids. Since it’s in Sagittarius, see how “full-filled” you are with your higher learning, religious and philosophical studies, and sense of life as an adventurous quest. How about foreign travel and influences from other cultures? And is there enough joy, exuberance and celebration in your life?
This lunation has one strong aspect: a square from Neptune. This can stimulate craving for altered states. Overdoing drugs, alcohol or escapist behavior can create unpleasant consequences. But invoking the divine presence or manifesting your divinely inspired creativity are joyful, life-affirming ways to use this aspect.
The Sabian Symbol for this eclipse is, “An old owl perched high up in a tree.” The owl’s lofty perch implies a more divine perspective, less colored by our usual human filters and distortions.
According to alltotems.com’s Owl Page, the owl has multilayered meanings. These include: wisdom, silence, magic, true sight, solitude, enlightenment, secrets, night, change, omens, vigilance, dreams, the feminine, intuition, stealth, mystery and insight.
Neptune shares some of these keywords, especially enlightenment, dreams, intuition and insight. Putting extra attention in these areas for the next six months could prove very rewarding!
I covered the basic meaning of today’s Sun-Neptune square in yesterday’s entry on the lunar eclipse. To start with what I wrote there, this can stimulate craving for altered states. Overdoing drugs, alcohol or escapist behavior can create destructive consequences. But invoking the divine presence or manifesting your divinely inspired creativity are joyful, life-affirming ways to make the best use of this aspect.
With the Sun in Gemini, a variety of approaches to the mental exploration of spirituality and creativity is supported.
It’s best to avoid starting important new projects or making major purchases during void-of-course Moons. “Business as usual” is the optimal strategy. Void-of-course Moons occur when the Moon has made her last major Ptolemaic aspect, but has not yet moved into her next sign.

5/24, 9:56 am – 5:51 pm (Sagittarius)
5/26, 6:23 am – 5:30 pm (Capricorn)
Whatever your Sun Sign, my forecasts can help you make the best use of the current astrological energies.
Events are most powerful on the dates listed, but their influence will be active for at least several days before and after. Everyone is affected by these global transits. However, you will be most powerfully impacted when moving planets activate sensitive points in your natal chart.
All dates and times are in the U.S. eastern time zone.
