The penultimate Uranus-Pluto square — #6 of 7 — is the undisputed headline for the first half of December. What revolutionary transformation can you embrace?
Other “skylights” include a Gemini Full Moon, a paradigm-challenging Saturn-Uranus quincunx, and the peaking of two intimately related Grand Trines.

12/1 (Mon)
There’s no end to what you could accomplish with Mars sextile Saturn (27°31′ Capricorn-Scorpio). Discipline, planning and focus combine smoothly and energetically with action, initiative and assertiveness. Go make something happen!
12/2 (Tue)
No major astrology events.
12/3 (Wed)
Maintain the status quo or try something new? This fundamental choice may come up for you repeatedly 11/12 through 12/29, peaking today (Saturn-Uranus sesquiquadrate, 27°42′ Scorpio-12°42′ Aries). If in doubt, contemplate one of my favorite mottos: “It always gets better than this!” Follow your intuitive flashes and take a focused, disciplined approach toward transformation to help positive change arrive more smoothly.
Productivity is in the air once again as Vesta, the asteroid goddess of selfless service, transits Capricorn today through 1/28. There’s lots of good energy available for your good works!
Grand Trine: Sun-Mercury-Juno-Ceres-Uranus
Mercury makes itself the fifth member of a Grand Trine today. The pre-existing Grand Trine, featuring the Sun, Juno, Ceres and Uranus, started on 11/30, peaks on 12/6 and ends on 12/12. The five-planet version with fast-moving Mercury comes and goes inside of that time frame: it starts today, peaks on 12/7 and ends on 12/11.
The basic idea of this Grand Trine is to be aware of how your committed partnerships affect your self-esteem. Mercury’s presence suggests that you communicate to others how their behavior is affecting you, if that’s appropriate.
Having such discussions in the most harmonious and cooperative atmosphere possible can help create the most positive outcome. Is direct communication not possible or appropriate? Mercury’s presence also supports journaling or discussing your situation with others who can provide helpful insights.
12/4 (Thu)
It’s always lovely when the two classic benefics make a harmonious aspect. Such is the case today as Venus trines Jupiter (22°36′ Sagittarius-Leo). This aspect supports the smooth expansion of romantic passion, creativity and go-for-broke performance. This is also a great energy for lovers of religion, philosophy and foreign cultures.
A quest to grow into the next level of your unique self-expression can be energized by a Sun-Uranus trine (12°41′ Sagittarius-Aries). This aspect can also make it easier for you to receive the intuitive flashes that your higher self always sends your way.
Mars transits Aquarius today through 1/12. This energy can help you take more assertive steps toward “letting your freak flag fly” and serving others with your unique skill set. It’s also a great time to take immediate action on your intuitive flashes.
A magical flow of creativity is available with Venus quintile Neptune (22°54′ Sagittarius-4°54′ Pisces). This fairy dust aspect can also help you perceive the divine essence that’s always present in everything around you.
12/5 (Fri)
Wounding experiences are more likely under a Sun-Chiron square (13°9′ Sagittarius-Pisces). But this energy also supports dynamic and expansive healing and mentoring processes, including spiritual healing.
Uranus and Aquarius are components of the same astrology alphabet letter, so they mean the same thing. This is why today’s Mars-Uranus quintile (0°40′ Aquarius-12°40′ Aries) has the same interpretation as yesterday’s entry of Mars into Aquarius!
Intuitive flashes, ingenious ideas and inspired speech can all flow easily as Mercury trines Uranus (12°40′ Sagittarius-Aries).
12/6 (Sat)
Wounding words are more likely with Mercury square Chiron (13°10′ Sagittarius-Pisces). But even as it makes the triggering of old hurts more likely, this aspect also supports the healing and mentoring that can heal them.
Gemini Full Moon
December’s Full Moon shines forth at 7:27 AM EST (14°17′ Gemini). Are any adjustments needed in how you’re learning and communicating? Are you experiencing enough diversity and taking an appropriately lighthearted approach to life?
Aspects
This lunation’s aspects support expanding your field of knowledge or communicating your message more broadly (tight Mercury opposition). Consider seeking mentoring in any areas where you feel challenged (tight Chiron square).
With a tight Uranus sextile, an unconventional approach to a familiar situation may yield a better outcome. And, with a Pluto quincunx, be sure to make whatever adjustments are needed to allow positive transformation to work its magic!
Sabian Symbol
This lunation’s Sabian Symbol is, “Two Dutch children talking and studying their lessons together.” According to UNICEF’s most recent Child Well-Being in Rich Countries survey, Dutch children ranked as the happiest kids in the world. So this symbol suggests that you bring harmony and happiness into your own learning and communication. (Gemini at its finest!)
Grand Trine peaks: Sun-Juno-Ceres-Uranus
The Grand Trine that started on 11/30, featuring the Sun, Juno, Ceres and Uranus, peaks today and ends on 12/12.
12/7 (Sun)
Grand Trine peaks: Sun-Mercury-Juno-Ceres-Uranus
The Grand Trine including Mercury that started on 12/3 peaks today and ends on 12/11.
12/8 (Mon)
A Sun-Mercury conjunction (16°13′ Sagittarius) augments learning and communication, especially in the areas of philosophy, religion and foreign cultures.
Jupiter turns retrograde today (22°37′ Leo), and will turn direct again on 4/8. This is a good time to reflect on the meaning of life, other cultures, and whether there’s enough celebration and enthusiasm in your life. You can also productively consider how you’re doing in the areas of leadership and stepping into the spotlight.
12/9 (Tue)
No major astrology events.
12/10 (Wed)
Venus transits Capricorn today through 1/3. Productive relationships and creative accomplishment are supported.
12/11 (Thu)

12/12 (Fri)
Learning, writing and speaking are smoothly and dramatically expanded with Mercury trine Jupiter (22°36′ Sagittarius-Leo).
Inspired communication is supported by a Mercury-Neptune quintile (22°59′ Sagittarius-4°59′ Pisces). Creative writing gets a special boost.
Compassionate service to a higher cause is smoothly energized by a Neptune-Vesta sextile (5°0′ Pisces-Capricorn).
12/13 (Sat)
No major astrology events.
12/14 (Sun)
It’s easy to feel more bright, shiny and energized with the Sun trine Jupiter (22°34′ Sagittarius-Leo).
Creative inspiration is easier to come by with Venus sextile Neptune (5°1′ Capricorn-Pisces). It’s also easier to connect with the divine essence in other people, and in everything around you. This aspect can also help you translate creative inspiration into its 3D manifestation.
12/15 (Mon)
Uranus-Pluto Square #6
If the 2010s are defined by one astrological aspect, it’s the Uranus-Pluto square (12°35′ Aries-12°35′ Capricorn) that has its sixth exact iteration today. These planets’ final exact 90° connection will be on 3/17/15, but the energetic effects of their interaction will be felt through 2020!
I’ve already written extensively about the Uranus-Pluto square, but in a nutshell it’s the 60s Part Two. The entire world and everyone in it is affected by this potent energy of revolutionary transformation, but even from a US-centric perspective the parallels are obvious. War: Vietnam/the Middle East. Minority empowerment: women’s lib and black power/gay marriage. Drugs: LSD/marijuana legalization. The two decades have lots more in common as well: technological breakthroughs, an explosion of unfettered artistic creativity in all media, and a pervasive sense of electricity, unrest and new possibilities. And this is just a sampling of the effects!
On a personal level, I recommend that you release everything that has outworn its usefulness. Do your best to be guided and energized by the divine power within you. Express your authentic human self into the world. Follow your intuitive flashes. And serve others with your unique talents!
Learn more about the Uranus-Pluto square.
Juno turns retrograde today (17°17′ Leo), and will turn direct again on 3/13. This is a good time to reflect on your committed partnerships, with an eye toward how you can heal their dysfunctions and/or take them to the next level!
Void-of-Course Moons
It’s best to avoid starting important new projects or making major purchases during void-of-course Moons. “Business as usual” is the optimal strategy. Void-of-course Moons occur when the Moon has made her last major Ptolemaic aspect, but has not yet moved into her next sign.

Whatever your Sun Sign, Benjamin’s forecasts can help you make the best use of the current astrological energies.
All dates and times are in the U.S. eastern time zone. Events are most powerful on the dates listed, but their influence will be active for at least several days before and after.
Everyone is affected by these global transits. However, you will be most powerfully impacted when moving planets activate sensitive points in your natal chart.
