An abundantly aspected Scorpio Lunar Eclipse is May’s astrological headliner, closely followed by a double-sign Mercury Retrograde and Jupiter entering Aries!

Two Uranus semi-squares add fuel to the fire, along with Jupiter sextile Pluto and a Gemini New Moon. We also have the Sun entering Gemini, a T-Square testing your higher cause commitment, and a Double Thor’s Hammer stirring up some juicy shadow work!

5/3 (Tue)

Jupiter Sextile Pluto

A Jupiter-Pluto sextile (28°35′ Pisces-Capricorn) brings flowing, energized empowerment of anything represented by Jupiter or Pisces! This aspect is in orb for a month and a half, thru 6/17.

The Many Meanings of Jupiter

What does Jupiter bring to the party? You can dive more deeply into higher education, formal or self-guided, as a student. You can also bless others as a professor, philosopher, guru, or other wisdom-giver.

Jupiter rules foreign travel. This could mean a physical excursion. But with today’s technologies, other countries and cultures can easily come to you. Anything foreign to you, even from within your own country or culture, could fall within this idea.

Do you crave a deeper understanding of life? Jupiter rules religion, philosophy and life’s meaning.

Are you living life as a quest or adventure? Jupiter would love it if you did. And are you experiencing enough celebration, euphoria and enthusiasm? These are Jupiter’s most joyful expressions!

Pisces Possiblities

What about Jupiter’s placement in Pisces? Because of this, Pluto can pump you up with expanded, empowered creativity. And if you’re mystically inclined, amplified spiritual experiences can flow to you more easily.

Pluto Possibilities

Jupiter also amplifies Pluto’s possibilities. These could include powerful teachings and adventurous experiences related to transformation or shamanism. They could also relate to death and rebirth processes, shadow work or psychology.

Pluto also rules occult teachings. These include astrology, numerology, tarot, runes, mediumship, and psychic phenomena. This Jupiter-Pluto sextile is a great time to dive more deeply into any of these, if the spirit moves you.

This sextile can also be great for enhanced wealth. Wealth could be money and material resources, or anything that adds value to your life.

Amplified power is also on tap, but you’ll need to choose your flavor. Are you only interested in gratifying your selfish desires, no matter how much harm you cause to others? That would be service-to-self power. But service-to-other power wants everyone to come out shining!

How about channeling all that wealth and power into business success? With Pluto in Capricorn, Jupiter’s happy to expand that for you too.

5/4 (Wed)

T-Square Tests Your Higher Cause Commitment

You may be supporting a higher cause – but are you systematic about it? That’s one of the central questions being asked by a T-Square that starts today, peaks on 5/14 and ends on 5/23. It includes the Sun, Vesta, Saturn and the lunar nodes.

Vesta represents the higher cause. That’s something that serves a greater good, which you support without concern for personal gain.

Saturn, tightly conjunct Vesta, calls you to be systematic, serious and dedicated. So do the Sun and North Node in steadfast Taurus.

Saturn and Vesta are in Aquarius, the sign of quantum leaps. If you’ve outgrown a particular cause, this energy could inspire you to take a quantum leap away from it.

But if your missions still align, you could help the cause make a significant breakthrough. This could happen in many ways, but — with the Sun and lunar nodes in the Scorpio-Taurus “Money Axis” — might be through financial support.

5/10 (Tue)

Mercury Retrograde in 2 Signs

Mercury turns retrograde about every 4 months. His current reversal starts today (5/10) at 7:47 am EDT (4°51′ Gemini). The trickster god will turn direct again on 6/3 at 4 am EDT (26°5′ Taurus).

Mercury retrograde is optimal for learning and reflection. You can choose any subject you like! But it can be especially productive to focus on themes that align with its sign.

Gemini and Taurus

Mercury is retrograde in Gemini 5/10 through 5/22. This is a great time to ponder the best things for you to learn or teach.

Mercury backpedals into Taurus for the rest of its retrograde, 5/23 thru 6/3. This is a great time to ponder themes like money, resources and security.

In addition, are you enjoying your five senses enough? Are you getting enough massages, and spending enough time in nature? In what areas are you stubbornly staying the course – and is that really best?

If possible, avoid major new beginnings during Mercury retrograde. Can you delay a major purchase or contract signing? Double-check travel arrangements, and be sure critical data is backed up. Communication can be tricky, so make sure you’re understanding and being understood.

What’s Mercury retrograde good for? Beyond learning and reflection, it’s a great time to make repairs, and complete projects that had already been started.

Jupiter Enters Aries

Jupiter enters Aries today (5/10), initiating a new 12-year journey through the signs.

The King of the Gods transits part of the first zodiacal sign for 5-1/2 months, through 10/28. After a two-month reunion tour of Pisces (10/29 thru 12/19), he transits all 30 degrees of Aries in just 5 months: 12/20/22 thru 5/16/23.

One of the most broadly helpful benefits of Jupiter in Aries is expanded energy for new beginnings. Whatever you want to get going, this placement makes it much easier to get a running start!

It’s Jupiter’s nature to amplify whatever he touches. In Aries, this gives you more juju for your actions as a warrior, pioneer, entrepreneur, or sexual being.

Aries’ initiating spark also fires up fresh energy for any Jupiter theme. I detailed those themes above in my 5/3 interpretation of Jupiter Sextile Pluto.

5/11 (Wed)

Jupiter Semi-Square Uranus

A minor aspect isn’t a big deal – unless it’s hard, involves two slower planets, and lasts for 9 months!

Because of all this, this Jupiter-Uranus semi-square (0°10′ Aries-15°10′ Taurus) deserves our attention. It came into orb (close enough to connect energetically) on 4/15, is exact today (5/11) and moves out of orb on 6/18. This aspect will come back into orb on 8/19 and endure through 1/19/23.

5/14 (Sat)

T-Square Peaks

The Sun-Vesta-Saturn-lunar nodes T-Square that started on on 5/4 peaks today (5/14) and ends on 5/23.

5/16 (Mon)

Total Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio

An abundantly aspected Total Lunar Eclipse reddens the sky at 12:14 am EDT (25°18′ Scorpio). The luminaries are less than three degrees from the lunar nodes. This tight proximity adds significant power to this eclipse.

This Total Lunar Eclipse will be visible in the eastern half of the United States and Canada, most of Central America, and all of South America. Here’s some astronomical info.

A Lunar Eclipse is a turbocharged Full Moon, whose effects last at least 6 months. Like any Scorpio Full Moon, this eclipse is great for release or adjustment in the following areas:

• personal transformation
• death and rebirth processes
• shadow work
• occult practices
• intimate energetic connection
• Insurance, taxes and inheritance
• shared resources of all kinds

Aspects

T-Square

This lunar eclipse includes two aspect patterns. One is a T-square containing the Moon, Sun, Vesta, Saturn and the lunar nodes.

I interpreted this T-Square on 5/4, without the Moon. The Moon adds energy, but doesn’t fundamentally change the interpretation.

In a nutshell, this T-square asks if you’re systematic, serious and dedicated about supporting a higher cause. If you’ve outgrown a particular cause, this energy could inspire you to take a quantum leap away from it.

But if your missions still align, you could help the cause make a significant breakthrough. This could happen in many ways, but might be through financial support.

Cradle

This Lunar Eclipse’s other aspect pattern is a potent Cradle. Like the T-Square, it also contains the luminaries and the lunar nodes. It also includes Mars, Neptune and Pluto.

A Cradle is a soft aspect pattern. This makes it easier for you to weave its energies together easily and harmoniously.

Martian Focus

Mars, the only personal planet other than the luminaries, is this aspect pattern’s obvious focal point. Mars is in Pisces and tightly conjunct Neptune.

This is ideal for taking action on your dreams and visions. You can focus more vital energy into inspired creativity or sacred sex. You can energize dream interpretation or conscious dreaming, or operate in flow state more consistently.

All this is boosted by Pluto’s sextile to Mars and Neptune. This harmonious, flowing aspect makes it easy to harness Pluto’s abundant raw power. Pluto can also amplify the energy of sacred sex, and can help you with release or transformation in any area.

The lunar nodes represent life purpose. The more your Full Moon actions and intentions align with your reasons for incarnating, the more potently they’ll be supported!

Scorpio-Taurus Focus

So far, I’ve interpreted this Cradle with a focus on Mars. But we could also interpret it with a Scorpio-Taurus Focus. After all, the Moon and South Node are in Scorpio, and the Sun and North Node are in Taurus!

I gave you Scorpio’s archetypal meanings near the start of this interpretation, but let’s briefly review them:

• personal transformation
• death and rebirth processes
• shadow work
• occult practices
• intimate energetic connection
• Insurance, taxes and inheritance
• shared resources of all kinds

Now let’s add Taurus’ main meanings:

• money and possessions you personally control
• dogged persistence
• the five senses: sight, sound, smell, taste and touch
• nature immersion
• “just being”

You could just keep it simple and focus this Cradle’s flowing energy into any of these standalone areas. Or you could go a level deeper and work on Taurus-Scorpio “axis themes”:

• Money, wealth and resources (balancing individual vs joint control)
• Your (possibly stagnant) comfort zone vs (possibly dangerous) transformation to your next level of evolution
• The limited sensual and sexual pleasure of the five senses, vs. a vastly more ecstatic energy body connection
• Consensual material reality vs. nonphysical spiritual and shamanic reality

You have at least six months to work with this eclipse’s numerous potentials. More power to you!

5/20 (Fri)

The Sun enters Gemini at 9:23 pm EDT. For the next month, more energy will be available for learning, teaching and communication. Emphasize variety, and touch base with your relatives and neighbors.

5/26 (Thu)

Mars Semi-Square Uranus

Mars and Uranus were square just two months ago. Today’s semi-square isn’t as intense, but you should still take it seriously!

On the challenging side, Mars semi-square Uranus (0°59′ Aries-15°59′ Taurus) can be chaotic and destabilizing. Unstable leaders are more likely to do crazy things.

As the warrior, Mars can strike violently and unexpectedly. Steer clear of dangerous people and situations as much as possible.

On the high side, this aspect can energize you to act immediately on your intuitive hits. You can take ingenious, inspired action as a warrior, pioneer, sexual being or entrepreneur. And you can boldly show the world your truest self!

5/27 (Fri)

Double Thor’s Hammer Stirs Shadow Work

Shadow work may well be amplified by a Double Thor’s Hammer that starts today (5/27), peaks on 6/6 and ends on 6/13. It includes Ceres, Jupiter, Saturn and the South Node.

Ceres, the grieving mother of Persephone in Greek mythology, can trigger old psychological traumas – especially in emotional Cancer. The South Node holds unhealed trauma from past lives. Plus the South Node is in Scorpio, the sign of psychology and deep inner processing.

Saturn brings challenge only when it serves your evolution. His placement in Aquarius suggest taking an innovative approach to your emotional healing. (Thousands have sped up their shadow work with the Healing Invocation, featured in my Free Invocation Masterclass.)

Finally, Jupiter in Aries adds energy and passion. This can help you power through any obstacles in your healing journey.

This Double Thor’s hammer can also support wealth-building, if you’re willing to persevere and think outside the box (Saturn in Aquarius). This works because Ceres, Scorpio and Jupiter all have astrological resonance with money and abundance.

5/29 (Sun)

You can enjoy a huge hit of vitality, thanks to a Mars-Jupiter conjunction (3°19′ Aries). You can use this to turbocharge anything you like! Extra juju is available for acting as the warrior, pioneer, entrepreneur or sexual being.

5/30 (Mon)

Gemini New Moon

A New Moon lines up at 7:30 am EDT (9°3′ Gemini). Any Gemini New Moon is great for new beginnings or revitalized energy in learning, teaching and communication. Gemini also loves variety, playfulness, and connecting with relatives and neighbors.

Aspects

This lunation only has two aspects. The strongest is a Juno square. If challenge arises in any of your committed partnerships — romantic or otherwise — be ready with a proven healing technique. My favorite relationship repair strategy is Marshall Rosenberg’s Nonviolent Communication method.
