Aries Energy Carryover
As we start May, we still have a lot of Aries energy continuing.
Most specifically, Mercury and Mars are still in Aries, as are Saturn, Pallas Athena, Chiron, Neptune, and Eris. So there’s still lots of Aries energy—lots of gung-ho, getting-started momentum following that Aries New Moon.
That’s the energetic backdrop for everything we’re discussing.
May 1: Scorpio Full Moon
The first major event of May is the Scorpio Full Moon on May 1st at 1:23 PM, at 11°20′ Scorpio.
In general, any Full Moon is a time of:
- Release and adjustment
- Illumination (the brightest night phase)
- Awareness of progress
- A peak or fulfillment point
It’s a moment where you can clearly see where you are, then make adjustments.
The Nature of Scorpio
Scorpio adds its own powerful layer.
Scorpio, often maligned and misunderstood, can actually be one of the most rewarding signs. It’s about deep, uncompromising transformation.
It helps you:
- Face what you no longer need
- Release outdated patterns
- Transform what still has potential
- Evolve into something new
This is not surface-level change. This is death-and-rebirth-level transformation.
The Chrysalis Metaphor
A classic metaphor for Scorpio is the caterpillar.
It spins a chrysalis and dissolves into goo. It might seem that all is lost. But somehow, the caterpillar emerges as a butterfly!
If you try to help the butterfly emerge, it won’t survive. The struggle is necessary. The effort builds the strength required for its new form.
Scorpio works the same way. Transformation requires effort, and sometimes challenge. But that’s what gives you the strength to become your next best version of yourself!
Working With Scorpio Energy
People who are strong in the eighth astrology archetype (Scorpio, Pluto or the 8th house) often experience many major life transformations.
- Those who resist change tend to suffer more.
- Those who embrace transformation evolve more quickly and gracefully.
A powerful Scorpio Full Moon strategy:
“I release everything that does not serve the highest good.”
This can include:
- Objects
- Relationships
- Situations
- Beliefs
- Aspects of self
The more you release, the more harmoniously you align with Scorpio energy.
Shadow Work
Scorpio energy naturally brings up shadow work.
Shadow work begins when:
- Emotional challenges arise
- Old wounds or trauma surface
Most people avoid this. Western culture doesn’t typically teach us how to to work with it well. But if you face it skillfully, transformation becomes possible.
Carl Jung introduced the concept of shadow work to the modern world. The idea is simple:
- If something stays hidden, it controls you from the shadows.
- If you bring awareness to it, it can be transformed or released.
Jung said that when you do shadow work, you uncover buried gold.
Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS)
This also connects to Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS).
The idea:
- You have “parts” within you
- These parts are inherently good
- Trauma distorts their behavior
When you:
- Unburden the wounded part
- Reintegrate it
You reclaim:
- Joy
- Vitality
- Talents
A Simple Shadow Work Method
If something is triggered:
- Feel it fully
- Notice it without avoidance
- Ask your higher self to give you:
“Maximum healing that serves highest good, please.”
Then:
- Relax
- Stay present with the sensation
You may feel:
- Vibrations
- Emotional movement
- Energy releasing
Sometimes the release is quite rapid!

Other effective tools include:
- Breathwork
- Internal Family Systems
- Any shadow work modality that works for you
Under a Scorpio Full Moon, shadow material is more likely to surface. It’s an ideal time to work with it!

The “Great Onion of Consciousness”
This process ties into what I call the Great Onion of Consciousness. This is described in my book Instant Divine Assistance: Your Complete Guide to Fast and Easy Spiritual Awakening, Healing, and More).
The idea:
- Your higher self radiates light
- Trauma layers block that light
- Each healing removes a layer
As layers fall away:
- More light flows in
- Consciousness upgrades automatically
This is an ongoing, infinite process.
Why Shadow Work Matters
If you don’t heal emotional pain:
- It repeats endlessly in this lifetime
- It may carry into future lifetimes
If you do heal it:
- Relief comes quickly (with effective tools)
- Your life improves in wonderful and often unpredictable ways
Scorpio Full Moons are ideal for this work.
Wealth and Power
Scorpio also rules wealth and power.
Wealth
Wealth includes not just money and possessions, but anything of value:
- Material
- Emotional
- Spiritual
Ask yourself: “What exact kind of wealth do I want more of?”
Power
Power has two forms:
Dark power (service to self):
- Manipulation
- Greed
- Exploitation
Light power (service to others):
- Upliftment
- Collective benefit
- Conscious leadership
Examples of light power:
- Jesus Christ
- Nelson Mandela
- Mother Teresa
Ask: “What kind of power do I want to embody?”
Occult Practices
Scorpio rules the occult—which simply means “hidden.”
In astronomy, an object is “occulted” when it’s hidden from view.
Occult practices include:
- Astrology
- Tarot
- Numerology
- Psychic work
- Mediumship
- Channeling
These can be practiced in fully positive, high-vibration ways.
Scorpio and Relationships
Scorpio supports:
- Deep intimacy
- Emotional honesty
- Raw authenticity
It invites you to:
- Be fully seen
- See others fully
Scorpio–Taurus Axis: Sensuality & Sexuality
With the Moon in Scorpio and Sun in Taurus:
- Scorpio → deep, transformative, sacred sexuality
- Taurus → sensual, slow, embodied pleasure
Together:
- Depth + presence
- Intensity + enjoyment
This is powerful energy for intimate connection.
Pluto & Juno Square the Full Moon
The Sun and Moon are square Pluto and Juno. This amplifies everything Scorpio represents.
A square (90°) indicates:
- Tension
- Turning points
- Necessary change
If challenges arise:
- Something is ready to evolve
- Something needs release or transformation
Juno: Committed Partnerships
Juno represents committed partnerships, not just romantic ones:
- Friendships
- Business relationships
- Even ongoing conflicts
During this Full Moon:
- Relationships may intensify
- Challenges may surface
- Opportunities for deeper connection arise
Ask:
- Can this relationship evolve?
- Can it deepen?
- Can it improve?
Triple Conjunction: Mercury, Chiron & Eris
During this Scorpio Full Moon, Mercury sits between Chiron and Eris.
- Mercury → communication, thinking
- Chiron → wounds, healing
- Eris → disruption, necessary disturbance
This can manifest as:
- Communicating healing insights
- Speaking truth about difficult issues
- Stirring things up for positive change
Eris invites constructive disruption:
- Highlight what’s not working
- Initiate improvement
Mars quintile Pluto
Mars quintile Pluto joins the two sexual planets.
Mars is raw lust, and just wants its sexual pleasure. Pluto can support sacred sex. The quintile magically connects them under the Scorpio Full Moon.
The two weeks after the Full Moon are really awesome for enjoying that deeper level of connection with your lover, if that’s appropriate.
Saturn sextile Juno
Saturn sextile Juno is a great stabilizer and enhancer for committed partnerships.
