Two lunations bookend the second half of July: a Capricorn Lunar Eclipse and a Leo New Moon. We also have Mercury turning direct, the Sun entering Leo, and several powerful aspect patterns – including an extremely rare Sextuple Yod!

Capricorn Lunar Eclipse
A Lunar Eclipse lines up at 5:38 PM EDT (24°4′ Capricorn). Like any Capricorn Full Moon, this is great for release or adjustment in career, maturity, and responsibility, as well as time management, planning and implementation. Unlike a regular Full Moon, this eclipse’s effects will last 6 to 12 months!
This eclipse’s meaning is powerfully colored by a ginormous T-square! This densely populated aspect pattern contains eight planets and points: Moon, Sun, Venus, Pallas Athena, Saturn, Pluto and the lunar nodes!
Saturn, Pluto and the South Node conjoin the Moon in Capricorn. This can help you adjust or release any structures in your life, tangible or intangible, that don’t align with your soul purpose.
Old karma and unresolved wounds, from this life or past lives, can get stirred up by this quadruple conjunction. (Have a good shadow work tool available … many people find my free Healing Invocation helpful.) If a structure does align with your soul purpose, these planets can juice it up with additional power and wealth!
The Sun, Venus and the North Node hold down the T-square’s opposite corner in Cancer. This highlights Venus’ primary themes: relationship, creativity, and money.
This eclipse should give you a good sense of how well these areas of your life are going. Anything in alignment with soul purpose can be given a more solid foundation, and enjoy enhanced wealth and power. (Wealth isn’t just money — it can be anything you value.) Anything out of alignment is likely to be challenged. In each instance, decide whether it’s wiser to adjust or let go.
Pallas Athena, standing alone in her Libran corner, completes this T-square. She invites you to use negotiation and strategy to get the best outcome for everyone. Saturn and Pluto might prefer brute force, but Pallas invites you to work smart.
This lunar eclipse aspects one planet that’s not in the T-square: retrograde Mercury. This invites you to think twice before acting on anything this eclipse stirs up. But if something needs to be communicated, do it with style. Leo, Mercury’s sign, represents the performer in the spotlight!
This eclipse’s Sabian symbol is,”An oriental rug dealer in a store filled with precious ornamental rugs.” With all the potential challenge in this eclipse, the symbol could represent something that cushions you from hard reality – and does so beautifully.
The Orient is famous for its traditions of meditation and direct spiritual experience. Perhaps one of these mystical tools could serve as your cushion!
We’re at the end of this eclipse season — but the long-term effects of the two July eclipses will last for 6 to 12 months! As you just read above, and in my July 2 solar eclipse forecast, both eclipses feature hard aspect patterns that include potentially challenging planets like Pluto, Saturn and Chiron. If you have sensitive natal points in Aries, Cancer, Libra or Capricorn, you could experience potent challenge … as well as incredible opportunity!
An Eclipse-Focused Reading
Even if you don’t normally do eclipse-focused readings, this would be a good time to consider one. You’ll be much better equipped to work skillfully with these eclipses’ challenging effects if you understand their specific astrological impacts on you.
An eclipse-focused reading will also help you maximize the upside potentials of these eclipses. These could include increased wealth, power, accomplishment, healing and unconditional love.
An eclipse-focused reading can help make your life more wonderful even if you do it after the eclipses. As noted above, you can work with eclipse effects for 6 to to 12 months!
- Are you concerned about how these eclipses will affect you?
- Do you want to maximize their benefits?
Venus does double duty today, adding meaning to the lunar eclipse and creating a Venus-Jupiter quincunx (15°32′ Cancer-Sagittarius). This amplifies her core themes of relationship, creativity and money. She also asks the same question as the eclipse: what adjustment is needed? With Venus in Cancer, pay special attention to helpful changes in your family relationships.
Venus takes center stage again – this is the second of five aspects in a row she headlines – with a Venus-Saturn opposition (16°39′ Cancer-Capricorn). This aspect is in yesterday’s lunar eclipse, and its interpretation will sound familiar.
If any aspect of relationship, creativity or finance is aligned with soul purpose, it will receive foundational support you can build on. If anything’s out of kilter in these areas, Saturn will bring challenge to bring this to your attention.
With Venus in Cancer, you can also use this aspect to beautify your home or harmonize a family relationship.
Venus continues her streak with her third and fourth aspects in a row: a Venus-Uranus quintile (18°22′ Cancer-6°22′ Taurus) and a Venus-Neptune trine (18°31′ Cancer-Pisces). Both planets aspected by Venus represent intuition, and both aspects are flowing.
Listen for the “voice of the silence” within. It comes from your higher self, which created you and always knows what you should do. But with aspects this good, don’t just listen – speak! Ask your higher self what to do, then leave space for the answer by meditating, journaling, or maybe taking a walk. Whatever works for you.
These are also great aspects for inspired creativity. Whatever your creative modality, make time for it today!
Finally, these harmonious aspects can help you connect more deeply with your divine self. Some people do this through prayer, meditation, dance, or nature immersion. Thousands have made spiritual breakthroughs with my free Embodied Awakening Invocation.
A Venus-Pluto opposition (21°43′ Cancer-Capricorn) is the fifth and final Venus aspect in a row. It’s also part of the massive lunar eclipse T-square.
Venus represents money, and Pluto stands for great wealth. So this aspect has great potential for financial gain. But Pluto can also create poverty, so exercise due diligence with all financial dealings.
Pluto can power up everything that aligns with your soul purpose in your relationships, creativity and finances. But he’s just as adept at bringing big challenge if anything in these areas isn’t serving your highest good.
This interpretation is similar to what I said about Venus opposing Saturn on 7/17. But there’s a massive difference of scale. Pluto is much slower and vastly more powerful than Saturn. Not that you have to choose: the Venus-Saturn opposition is still in effect as Venus opposes Pluto!
Learning and communication are energized by a Sun-Mercury conjunction (28°28′ Cancer). Since it’s in Cancer, this aspect supports heartfelt and heart-affecting communication. It can also help you communicate more effectively with family members.
The Sun enters Leo, the sign he rules, at 10:50 PM EDT. This amplifies the energy of the leader, the performer in the spotlight, and children (or your inner child) for the next month. The Sun in Leo also energizes risk, speculation, and rest and relaxation.
Three aspect patterns start today! Let’s take them one at a time.
Mercury forms a T-square with most of the points from the 7/16 lunar eclipse, adding new meaning to this potent aspect pattern. In addition to Mercury, this T-square features Pallas Athena, Saturn, Pluto and the lunar nodes. It starts today (7/23), peaks on 7/31 and ends on 8/9.
This T-square energizes powerful, authoritative communication that aligns with your life purpose. Your message can be both heartfelt and strategically crafted. If old wounds are getting triggered, Mercury can help you gain the insights you need to heal them once and for all.
Make that amazing life you’ve been dreaming about real!
My unique combination of modalities, refined through more than 8000 AstroShaman client sessions, can help you thrive in all areas of your life. And my unusual approach could help you do this faster than you might have thought possible.
A Sextuple Yod starts today – that’s right, six interlinked “Fingers of God” at the same time! But let’s start with the most powerful standalone Yod of the six. It features Mars, Saturn and Neptune. It starts today (7/23), peaks on 7/28 and ends on 8/3.
Mars is at the tip of the Yod, eager to act on the potentials of the Saturn-Neptune sextile. These two planets combine to support Law of Attraction manifestation and embodied awakening. With Mars in spotlight-loving Leo, this Yod also supports all types of creative performance.
While the Mars-Saturn-Neptune Yod can support anything you dream up, today’s Sextuple Yod is highly specialized. Its interpretation has to combine all eight of its points: Mars, Juno, Pallas, Vesta, Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune and the lunar nodes!
So here we go: this Sextuple Yod supports assertive, strategic action, taken with a committed partner, in support of a compassionate higher cause. This can be done responsibly, joyfully and in alignment with your soul purpose.
Harmonious, heartfelt communication is supported by a Mercury-Venus conjunction (26°13′ Cancer).
Triple Yod Peaks
A Triple Yod peaks today (7/28). It includes Pallas Athena, Vesta, Jupiter, Neptune and the North Node, and is a subset of the Sextuple Yod that started on 7/23. This Triple Yod started on 7/8 and ends on 8/3.
These interlinked “Fingers of God” support service-to-other projects. You can strategically and assertively broadcast information about a worthy cause that aligns with your soul purpose.
You can enjoy harmoniously expanded assertiveness as Mars trines Jupiter (14°57′ Leo-Sagittarius). This can amplify your performances, juice up your leadership, or sparkle up your sexuality. This aspect also supports standout athletic performance.
Is there a worthy cause aligned with your soul purpose? You can use the Law of Attraction to support it, thanks to a Cradle that started on 7/6, peaks today (7/26) and ends on 8/25. This flowing aspect pattern includes Vesta, Saturn, Neptune and the lunar nodes. It also supports embodied awakening – especially if you want to awaken more deeply so that you can serve others more effectively.
Do you feel like you’re driving with the brakes on? Then you’re just one step away from turning a Mars-Saturn quincunx (15°57′ Leo-Capricorn) from liability to asset. Some kind of adjustment is needed. Once you find it, Mars and Saturn will join to give you Energizer Bunny endurance!
Sextuple Yod Peaks
The Sextuple Yod that started on 7/23 peaks today (7/27) and ends on 8/3. It includes Mars, Juno, Pallas Athena, Vesta, Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune and the North Node.
The Mars-Saturn-Neptune Yod that started on 7/23 peaks today (7/28) and ends on 8/3.
Would you like to receive more recognition as a healer or mentor? You’re supported by a trine between the Leonine Sun and Chiron (5°46′ Leo-Aries). Even if you’re not seeking the spotlight, this harmonious aspect can energize your healing and mentoring abilities.
You can step boldly into your individuality, more visibly than ever, with the Leonine Sun square Uranus (6°32′ Leo-Taurus). This dynamic aspect can also fire up your intuitive flashes, and inspire you to serve others using the special gifts you must love to use.
Be careful to avoid this aspect’s darker expressions, including runaway self-centeredness and chaotic craziness.
Does some aspect of your committed partnership need to dissolve so the entire relationship can improve? A Neptune-Juno quincunx (18°21′ Pisces-Leo) is at your service! With the right intention, this adjustment aspect can help you and your committed partner enjoy more ecstatic energetic merging, or enjoy creative work together.
Are you feeling spontaneous, flowing energy in support of some higher cause or purpose? A Neptune-Vesta sextile (18°20′ Pisces-Taurus) could be the cause. Follow your bliss!
Leo New Moon
A New Moon lines up at 11:12 PM EDT (11:11:49 pm to be exact) at 8°36′ Leo. Any Leo New Moon is great for new beginnings or fresh energy in a variety of areas. Leo’s primary themes are leadership and being the performer in the spotlight. Additional themes include risk, speculation, children or your inner child, and rest and relaxation.
This New Moon has three important aspects: a Venus conjunction, a Uranus square, and a Chiron trine.
This opens up several ways to use this New Moon energy. In terms of relationship, make sure that you both have room to express yourselves (Venus in Leo). If a relationship is in good shape, the Uranus square can help you two make a quantum leap to the next level of wonderful!
If there are unresolved issues, the relationship could experience challenging surprise or destabilization to bring these to your attention. Fortunately, Uranus can also pop in intuitive flashes to help you resolve the situation harmoniously.
The trine from Chiron adds a smooth flow of healing or mentoring energy. If those in the challenged relationship aren’t solving the problem on their own, this trine invites you to call in someone who can give you helpful advice. A wonderful tool that has helped many couples resolve conflicts is the 4-Part Nonviolent Communication Process. For your own internal healing work, try my free Healing Invocation.
Artistically, you could share your creativity (Venus and Leo) with others with dynamic electricity and genius (Uranus). You can receive smooth support from a mentor (Chiron trine) in doing this. You could also experience a paradigm shift in your creativity (Uranus square Venus and the Leo luminaries).
Financially, the Uranus square could give you a wake-up call if money matters needs your attention. Uranus’ intuitive flashes can guide you, while the Chiron trine makes financial mentoring and healing available more easily.
This New Moon’s Sabian Symbol is, “Glass blowers shape beautiful forms with their controlled breathing.” This obviously relates to the creative opportunities of this New Moon, and invites any form of creative expression.
A more universal message is how controlling the breath creates beauty. Many spiritual paths teach how breath control can dramatically shift consciousness. Yogic pranayama exercises are one example. Another is the strong focus on breath in chi gung, tai chi and other mindful movement methods.
But you don’t have to adopt such a formal practice to enjoy the benefits of controlled breathing. Even the simple practice of bringing slow deep breaths into your belly can cultivate a wide range of benefits. This can make your daily existence a creative act, with the “beautiful forms” appearing in every aspect of your life.

Mercury turns direct today (7/31) at 11:58 pm EDT at 23°56′ Cancer. This ends the Mercury retrograde that started on 7/7 at 4°27′ Leo.
In my 7/7 Mercury retrograde forecast, I invited you to think about how you’re embodying the roles of the leader or entertainer while Mercury was backpedaling in Leo. Are you having enough fun, engaging in an appropriate amount of risk, and getting enough rest?
As Mercury retrograded in Cancer, I suggested that you reflect on the fundamental themes of home, family, and security. Are you in touch with your emotions, and doing effective shadow work to process your challenging feelings?
With Mercury now direct, the path is clear to take action on the insights you gained during your Mercury retrograde reflections. With Mercury turning direct less than an hour after the Leo New Moon, you have plenty of energy to get new things started! If you’ve been delaying the start of any major new initiatives or large purchases because of Mercury retrograde, you now have a green light to proceed.
This timing information is general advice. Critical events with important consequences, such as elective surgery, a wedding or listing a house for sale, are best determined using electional astrology.
The Mercury-Pallas-Saturn-Pluto-Lunar Nodes T-square that started on 7/23 peaks today (7/31) and ends on 8/9.
Finally, here’s an aspect included in today’s T-square: a Pluto-Pallas Athena square (21°28′ Capricorn-Libra). This empowers your warrior goddess energy, and can support you in any battles you need to fight. Just remember that Pallas prefers strategy and negotiation … and will duke it out only as a last resort!
Whatever your Sun Sign, my forecasts can help you make the best use of the current astrological energies.
