Chiron Direct
Chiron, retrograde since 6/27, turns direct today at 20°40′ Pisces. The direct station of the wounded healer supports new beginnings in mentoring and healing, as well as shamanism and spiritual awakening.
Any sensitive point in your natal chart between 22° and 28° in the mutable signs – Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius and Pisces – will be strongly affected by Chiron’s station. One of Chiron’s main jobs is to trigger old wounds so they can be healed, so have your self-healing techniques ready! Many people find my Healing Invocation helpful. These other shadow work processes also have a great track record for clearing challenging emotions and energetic blocks.
For some people, Chiron mainly triggers their unhealed shadow material. For others, it gives them more power to heal and mentor others. Your Chiron experience will depend on where you are in your own healing journey.
Your assertiveness, leadership and sexuality can be smoothly energized as Mars trines Jupiter (17°1′ Aquarius-Libra). Ditto for your entrepreneurship, inventiveness and athleticism. With Mars in Aquarius, don’t be afraid to venture outside the box in any of these areas when inspiration strikes!
This Mars-Jupiter trine is also part of two Cradle aspect patterns: Mars-Ceres-Jupiter-Saturn-Uranus and Sun-Mars-Ceres-Jupiter-Saturn-Uranus.
Expansive thinking is creatively energized with Mercury quintile Jupiter (29°1′ Sagittarius-17°1′ Libra).
12/2 (Fri)
Mercury transits Capricorn today thru 1/4, then again 1/12 thru 2/7. Mercury typically zips through a sign in about three weeks, but will be spending about two months in Capricorn. (There can only be one explanation for such unaccustomed loitering by this astrological speedster: a Mercury retrograde that starts on 12/20.)
Mercury’s extended sojourn in Capricorn supports serious thinking and well-structured communication. Thinking can be more conservative during this time, so beware of blindly clinging to the familiar when it’s time for a change!
12/3 (Sat)
You can experience deeper soul connection in committed partnership with Neptune square Juno (9°17′ Pisces-Sagittarius). But Neptune’s shadow effects include deception and wishful thinking. If you’re confused about what’s going on in an important relationship, a fresh perspective from a clearheaded third party might be helpful.
Long-burning productivity and enhanced sexual stamina are two possible upsides of a Mars-Saturn sextile (18°2′ Aquarius-Sagittarius). Men, speaking of sexual stamina, you might benefit from this helpful post on multiple male orgasms. Learning how to do this completely revolutionized my sex life!
This Mars-Saturn sextile is also part of two Cradle aspect patterns: Mars-Ceres-Jupiter-Saturn-Uranus and Sun-Mars-Ceres-Jupiter-Saturn-Uranus.

Cradle Peaks: Mars-Ceres-Jupiter-Saturn-Uranus
A Cradle aspect pattern that started on 11/30 peaks today (12/6) and ends on 12/11. It includes Mars, Ceres, Jupiter, Saturn and Uranus. For your convenience, I’m including a shorter version of my 11/30 Cradle interpretation here.
Cradles are mostly harmonious because they have five soft aspects: three sextiles and two trines. The one hard aspect, an opposition, provides some initiating energy.
This Cradles’ planets are in the masculine fire and air signs. This adds some good initiating energy, but you’ll still need to apply conscious effort to activate this Cradle’s full potential.
To make the best use of this cradle, be as authentically yourself as possible (Uranus). Pay attention to the actions your intuitive flashes (Uranus) are asking you to take. Then create and implement a structured plan to implement them (Saturn). Think big (Jupiter), and recruit appropriate allies to help you (Jupiter in Libra).
Your Cradle initiatives might relate to financial abundance or improved self-esteem (both ruled by Ceres). Or they might relate to breakthroughs or breakaways (Uranus) in religion, your life philosophy, or politics (all three ruled by Jupiter).
This cradle includes Mars, which can be direct and aggressive. He’s like Han Solo on the Death Star in the first Star Wars movie: “Bring ’em on, I’d prefer a straight fight to all this sneaking around!”
I’m not advocating violence or unnecessary roughness. But if a forceful, yang approach is needed to get the job done, Mars’ presence in this Cradle will support you.
The energized flow of a Mars-Uranus sextile (20°46′ Aquarius-Aries) can support taking immediate action on your intuitive flashes. It can also give you fresh inspiration in your leadership, sexuality, and striving for a worthy cause.
This Mars-Uranus sextile is also part of two Cradle aspect patterns: Mars-Ceres-Jupiter-Saturn-Uranus and Sun-Mars-Ceres-Jupiter-Saturn-Uranus.
12/7 (Wed)
Venus transits Aquarius thru 1/2. This encourages outside-the-box thinking in your relationships, creativity and finances. For best results, follow your intuitive flashes!
12/8 (Thu)
Cradle Begins: Sun-Mars-Ceres-Jupiter-Saturn-Uranus
This is the same Cradle I described on 12/6, except with the Sagittarian Sun added like a cherry plopped on top of an ice cream sundae. The Sun adds some extra energy to the effects I already described. The Sun doesn’t add anything of major importance to the cradle’s meaning, but it does extend its effects by three more days.
This Sun-Mars-Ceres-Jupiter-Saturn-Uranus Cradle starts today (12/8), peaks on 12/11 and ends on 12/14. You can read my interpretation of the Mars-Ceres-Jupiter-Saturn-Uranus Cradle here.
12/9 (Fri)
T-square Begins: Mercury-Ceres-Jupiter-Uranus-Pluto
The revolutionary six-month Jupiter-Uranus-Pluto T-square is energized and colored by Mercury and Ceres starting today (12/9), peaking on 12/17 and ending on 12/26. (See my 12/11 forecast for an in-depth interpretation of the Jupiter-Uranus-Pluto T-square.)
The specific meanings added by Mercury and Ceres include:
- more energy for writing or other forms of communication
- enhanced opportunity for Law of Attraction manifestation
- improve your self-esteem by examining your habitual ways of thinking about yourself
- use focused attention to empower healing of old sorrows
You might feel a nice energy boost from a Sun-Jupiter sextile (18°15′ Sagittarius-Libra). This aspect also supports expansion, adventurousness and higher learning.
This Sun-Jupiter sextile is also part of the Sun-Mars-Ceres-Jupiter-Saturn-Uranus Cradle that started on 12/8.
12/10 (Sat)
Intuitive insights can come more easily, especially in practical matters, with Capricornian Mercury sextile Neptune (9°21′ Capricorn-Pisces). This aspect can give your thinking a lovely blend of inspiration and discipline.
Discipline and accomplishment are on the front burner as the Sun conjoins Saturn (18°51′ Sagittarius). Saturn’s discipline combined with Sagittarius’ expansiveness can set the stage for extraordinary productivity!
This Sun-Saturn conjunction is also part of the Sun-Mars-Ceres-Jupiter-Saturn-Uranus Cradle that started on 12/8.

T-square First Peak: Jupiter-Uranus-Pluto
One of the strongest astrological events of both 2016 and 2017 reaches the first of two peaks today.
In my original November forecast, I wrote that this powerhouse Jupiter-Uranus-Pluto T-square started on 11/12, peaks today (12/11), and ends on 1/16. But now that I’ve switched to using larger orbs for mundane aspects (10° for the conjunction and square), I show it starting on 11/3, peaking on 12/11 and 3/17, and ending on 5/1. That triples the original duration I gave, from roughly two months to six!
What follows is a slightly edited version of my original forecast for this T-square.
At the most basic level, Jupiter is rekindling the power of the waning Uranus-Pluto square. This amplifies the power of revolutionary transformation. Pluto in Capricorn can take a wrecking ball to old structures that have outlived their usefulness, while supporting new structures whose time has come. Pluto normally takes its time, but Uranus in Aries has no patience. It wants those changes yesterday!
A prime example of these energies at play is Donald Trump unexpectedly being elected the next President of the United States. With Republicans also controlling the House and Senate, this radically upsets the status quo established by the Obama administration. This appears likely to trigger extreme change not just in the United States but throughout the world.
This T-square is also fueling political chaos in the Middle East, the massive global refugee crisis, and increasingly extreme weather events fueled by climate change. On a more harmonious note, we now have amazingly helpful and intelligent mobile devices, an abundance of high-quality entertainment, and a rising tide of spiritual awakening sweeping the planet. Uranus-Pluto aspects bring out the extremes on both sides!
Personal Effects
On a personal level, this square can fuel the acceleration of your own life-affirming changes in all areas. Are you ready to be the real you, even if doing so disappoints others? Do you have the courage to follow your intuitive flashes, even if they lead you in scary or unexpected directions? Can you tolerate the extreme pleasure you’d experience by serving others with your greatest gifts that you most love to use?
Those were Uranian possibilities. Pluto asks that you release everything that doesn’t serve you, whether physical, relational or conceptual, and that you transform like a caterpillar morphing into a butterfly. The more you’re willing to offer yourself as an intuitively guided instrument of divine service, the more powerful you’ll become under the influence of this T-square!
Let’s look at this T-square’s personal effects from the other direction. The influence of Uranus and Pluto on Jupiter can catalyze a quantum leap in how you relate to religion, philosophy and the meaning of your life. You could connect with a life-transforming teacher, or catalyze the growth of others by sharing your wisdom. And transformative experiences await you if you travel to foreign countries or expose yourself to the influence of other cultures.
Jupiter is in Libra, the sign of relationship and creativity. How can you take these to the next level in your life? And all three planets are in cardinal signs, which support new beginnings.
The winds of transformation are billowing your sails through 5/1. What ports of call are you choosing?
It Ain’t Over ‘Til It’s Over!
The Uranus-Pluto square peaked 2012 through 2015, with seven exact squares. But even as the square wanes, it will be powerful enough to keep the energy of revolutionary transformation cooking through the end of the decade!
The prior major Uranus-Pluto event was their conjunction, which was exact five times 1964-66. But the most revolutionary year of the 60’s was 1968.
History suggests that exact alignments often plant seeds, which then blossom in the years immediately following. In the same way, even with the Uranus-Pluto square waning, its most powerful effects may be yet to come. In a world which so needs positive change, I consider this very hopeful news!
The Uranus-Pluto square also invites you to examine your own role in this epic unfolding drama. Will you be watching from the sidelines? Or will you step up to do whatever you can … small or large … to create positive change in your life and in the world?
How Strongly is This T-square Affecting Your Chart?
The first peak of the Jupiter-Uranus-Pluto T-square is today (12/11) with Jupiter between 18° and 19° Libra. The second peak on 3/17 puts Jupiter around 21° Libra. This means that sensitive points in your natal chart between 15° and 24° in any of the cardinal signs — Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn — will be most strongly affected.
Cradle Peaks: Sun-Mars-Ceres-Jupiter-Saturn-Uranus
The Sun-Mars-Ceres-Jupiter-Saturn-Uranus Cradle that started on 12/8 peaks today (12/11) and ends on 12/14.
12/12 (Mon)
Today’s Sun-Uranus trine (20°40′ Sagittarius-Aries) is part of the Sun-Mars-Ceres-Jupiter-Saturn-Uranus Cradle that started on 12/8, peaked on 12/11 and ends on 12/14. The meaning of this trine is included in my Cradle interpretation.
You can dive into the next level of your personal shadow work with the Sun square Chiron (20°43′ Sagittarius-Pisces). This square can also empower your mentoring and healing abilities. For more on working with Chiron, see my 12/1 forecast.

Gemini Full Moon
A Full Supermoon illuminates the sky at 7:06 PM EST (22°25′ Gemini). Any Gemini full Moon is ideal for adjusting what you’re learning about and how you’re sharing information. Are you enjoying enough variety in your life, getting out enough in your neighborhood, and making enough connections with your neighbors and relatives?
As a Supermoon, unusually close to Earth, this Full Moon enjoys extra power.
Aspects
All of this Full Moon’s important aspects are contained within two aspect patterns: a T-square and an Envelope.
T-square: Moon-Sun-Juno-Saturn-Chiron
There’s nothing like having Saturn and Chiron in a T-square with the luminaries to fire up your unhealed childhood wounds! Juno’s inclusion in the T-square increases the likelihood that you’ll get triggered by someone with whom you share some sort of committed partnership.
If you know the appropriate shadow work techniques, these challenging emotions will reveal themselves as gateways to ever-deeper levels of spiritual awakening. My Healing Invocation post gives a powerful self-help technique, and also links to other helpful shadow work resources.
This T-square can also help you step into greater authority as a healer, mentor, shaman or awakener.
Envelope: Moon-Sun-Mars-Ceres-Pallas Athena-Juno-Jupiter-Saturn-Uranus
An Envelope incorporates four other aspect patterns: a Grand Trine, two Kites and a Mystic Rectangle. True to its name, it looks just like a personal mailing envelope with the flap open. Like the Cradles I’ve been talking about so much lately, this aspect pattern is mostly harmonious, but has enough energy to help you get something accomplished.
With nine planets (!), this Envelope lends itself to a huge number of possible interpretations. To avoid unnecessary complexity, it’s helpful to note that this Envelope actually is the most recent Cradle I’ve been talking about, along with the Moon and some extra asteroid goddesses. So let’s make it easy and say that this envelope simply reinforces the energy of the existing Sun-Mars-Ceres-Jupiter-Saturn-Uranus Cradle, and extends its effects until the New Moon on 12/29.
Sabian Symbol
This Full Moon’s Sabian Symbol is, “Three fledglings in a nest high up in a tree.” Obviously, the proper destiny of any fledgling is to leave the nest and fly on its own.
Is there some area of life in which it’s time for you to take a leap of faith and launch something new … even if it’s only a new aspect of yourself? Are you willing to do this even if others who are “sharing your nest” aren’t yet ready? Are there people you’re helping who need a “hard love shove” so they’ll finally fly on their own

12/14 (Wed)
Breakthroughs and magical opportunities in your relationships, creativity and finances could await you … if you’re paying enough attention to your intuitive flashes. Have the courage to move forward even if your inner guidance encourages you to step outside of your comfort zone as Venus quintiles Uranus (8°38′ Aquarius-20°38′ Aries).

Void-of-Course Moons
It’s best to avoid starting important new projects or making major purchases during void-of-course Moons. “Business as usual” is the optimal strategy. Void-of-course Moons occur when the Moon has made her last major Ptolemaic aspect, but has not yet moved into her next sign.
