Solar Eclipse in Aquarius

A solar eclipse lines up on 2/17 at 7:01 am EST (28°49′ Aquarius). A tight square from Uranus massively boosts the energy of the eleventh astrological archetype!

A solar eclipse is a supercharged New Moon. The influence of a regular New Moon last two weeks, but eclipse opportunities endure for at least six months.

New Moons are optimized for new beginnings or fresh energy. So this is a great time to start anything at all!

Aquarian Opportunities

Aquarian activities get special support. This energy can help you more comfortably embrace anything about yourself that’s unconventional or outside the box. You can also “fly your freak flag” more openly in the right situations.

Is it more important to avoid possible criticism from those who don’t understand you? Or is it time to put yourself out there so you can reach those you’re here to serve?

Aquarius rules intuitive hits, which are hints from your higher self. They arrive with a feeling of absolute certainty, and are further confirmed by how they feel in your body. People say they have a “gut feeling,” “know it in their bones,” or have a “full-body yes!”

Uranus Square

This solar eclipse’s strongest aspect is a tight Uranus square.

This strongly reinforces all the Aquarian opportunities just mentioned. This is because Aquarius and Uranus are both part of the eleventh astrology archetype, and have the same meanings and effects.

The 90° square between Uranus and the luminaries can make you “turn a corner.” Since the eleventh archetype also rules paradigm shifts and the unexpected, this change of direction might surprise you. You might perceive the surprise as awful or wonderful, but it could be unavoidable either way.

You’re less likely to get unpleasant surprises if you follow your intuitive hits. If you’ve already “turned the corner” voluntarily, the universe won’t need shock tactics!

Saturn and Neptune Semi-Sextiles

The next most important aspects are strong semi-sextiles between the luminaries and Saturn and Neptune. These two planets are bumping hips, and will conjoin three days later on 2/20.

I’ll interpret the Saturn-Neptune conjunction more thoroughly in the next part of this forecast. But I’ll tell you now that this pairing is fantastic for embodied spiritual awakening and Law of Attraction manifestation. You can potently support your New Moon goals by maintaining a strong embodied awakening and skillfully calling in the reality you want!

Grace Notes

This solar eclipse’s remaining aspects have very wide orbs (degrees of exactness). So, while they’ll offer a bit of help, you’ll need to put in some effort to bring forth their archetypal opportunities.

Conjunctions

Four planets are loosely conjunct the Sun and Moon.

• Vesta invites you to offer selfless service to a higher cause.
• Mars can help you embody the roles of the warrior, pioneer, sexual being, or entrepreneur.
• Pallas Athena can boost your feminine assertiveness, and can help you more skillfully strategize, mediate, or negotiate.
• Venus can help you focus on relationships, creativity, or finances. Her placement in Pisces can boost your empathic sensitivity and increase your inspired creativity.

The North Node is about 10° from the luminaries. The distance from the luminaries to the lunar nodes is one of several factors that determine an eclipse’s power.

A 10° orb doesn’t have much oomph. However. the previously mentioned aspects from Uranus, Neptune, and Saturn boost the eclipse’s potency. As always, astrological interpretation is a balancing act between many factors!

Sextiles

• Chiron, the wounded healer, specializes in healing and mentoring. His energy can help whether you’re giving or receiving.
• Used positively, Eris can destabilize a situation that needs transformation. This might be happening to you, or you might be the instigator of the shake-up.

Sabian Symbol

This Solar Eclipse’s Sabian Symbol is, “A butterfly emerging from a chrysalis.”

What a perfect image for the times we’re in right now!

In its chrysalis, a caterpillar basically melts down to goo. It looks like game over.

But then, magically, the goo morphs into a gorgeous butterfly. How could such a magnificent creature emerge from such humble beginnings?

In the larger world, and in many people’s personal lives, things are getting very gooey indeed. But what if this is exactly what’s needed to create this Sabian Symbol’s “butterfly effect”? It’s precisely at times like these, with the old status quo crumbling, that it’s easiest for a new and better reality to emerge.

Hold the vision of the reality you want, for yourself and for the world around you. Then get to work physically manifesting it.

Peaking Minor Grand Trine with Saturn and the “Gods of Change”

The Minor Grand Trine with Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto – the “gods of change” –  is the most important astrological event of the decade. It locked in during April 2024, and will profoundly influence personal and global events all the way through mid-2030!

Saturn has been a temporary member of this aspect pattern since April 2025, and will remain involved through mid-April 2026. On 2/22, this four-planet version of the Minor Grand Trine hits the peak of its power! 

This Minor Grand Trine’s effects can range from the highest to the lowest. 

One of the most visible current effects is President Trump’s annihilation of the old world order. International allies that have comfortably relied on American goodwill since World War II must now take a defensive stance and look to new alliances. 

Likewise, many American citizens now cower behind locked doors as Trump’s masked stormtroopers invade their cities, spreading fear and murdering innocent civilians. And, having just revoked the EPA’s ability to regulate climate pollution, Trump seems hellbent on murdering Mother Earth herself.

A Minor Grand Trine is a triangle with two 60° sextiles and a 120° trine. Here, Pluto is sextile Neptune, Neptune is sextile Uranus, and Uranus is trine Pluto. With this potentially harmonious interaction, these three “gods of change” can support each others’ highest qualities.

However, soft aspects can also let these planets’ darker qualities interact with ease.

Trump is using classic dark magician strategy. Turbulent emotions such as fear, hatred, and rage become an empowering feast for the dark entities that empower him. The more he can goad his enemies into leaking life force from their lower chakras, the stronger he becomes. 

What can you do when Trump, or other dark side manipulators, try to siphon off your vital energy by aggravating you? 

First, you can keep calm more easily by maintaining a state of embodied awakening. And, when you do get triggered, you can use a fast and effective healing technique to clear challenging energy from your field.

In this Minor Grand Trine, each of these planets’ potentials is supercharged by the other two. There’s no end to the positive possibilities!

Adding Saturn

As I mentioned above, Saturn has been a temporary member of this aspect pattern since April 2025, and will remain involved through mid-April 2026. (The Minor Grand Trine without Saturn will persevere until mid-2030.)

Saturn brings challenge, delays, and obstructions where they’re needed for personal and collective growth. In his darker expressions, Saturn can be cold, calculating, and heartless. He can believe that the ends justifies the means, however cruel they may be.

But Saturn can also help you be mature, wise, and responsible. He can help you “plan the work and work the plan” and manage your time well. And he can be a paragon of productivity!

Saturn’s conjunction with Neptune adds additional possibilities, which I discuss in the next section of this forecast.

Low Potentials

Even with the Minor Grand Trine’s harmonious aspects, the outer planets’ low potentials are showing up. (Don’t worry, I’ll follow this section with plenty of upside possibilities!)

It’s amazing how explicitly many of these dark potentials are manifesting, most obviously through Trump and those influenced by him.

These possibilities are drawn mostly from Renn Butler’s astrology masterpiece The Archetypal Universe, which was published back in 2018. Believe it or not, they weren’t written with any particular person in mind, but simply as expressions of archetypal possibilities. (I am deeply grateful for Renn’s permission to use his insights here.)

Here are a few of the darker archetypal energies currently manifesting:

Neptune in Aries 

• Misguided leaders or influencers can spread confusion. They may believe they have to blame others, wage holy wars, or hurt others to wake them up.

Uranus in Gemini

• Impractical ideas can lead to erratic thinking and a lack of focus. This can cause unreliability and inconsistency.
• Making quick, premature judgments or dropping comments out of the blue, paired with too much talking and lack of tact, can lead to upsetting surprises. An excessive need for intellectual autonomy, mental pride, and stubbornness can lead you to glorify intelligence and have a high and mighty opinion of yourself as brilliant or gifted.

Uranus Trine Pluto & Pluto in Aquarius

• Driving, manic energies can lead to willfulness and impatience, self-righteous radicalism, and fanatical idealism. An obsession with change at any cost can empower strange impulses. This can hijack more pressing issues and lead to harmful rebellion.
• Intense hubris and ego inflation create a feeling of being above conventional morality. This can lead to a maniacal, doomed brilliance.
• Efforts to force external revolution without healing your own wounded psyche can make the problem worse.
• Cataclysmic forces of anarchy and upheaval can lead to roller coaster rides of unpredictable change. Violent attempts at breakthroughs bring freedom paired with vengeance, resulting in turmoil, disruption, and chaotic energy. This can lead to collective hysteria.

Uranus Sextile Neptune

• Being drawn into excessive escapism or fantasy, leading to delusion and denial. These tendencies can manifest as narcissism and avoidance. This can lead to gullibility, impressionability, and poor discernment.
• Fearful societies increasingly deploy racist and xenophobic rhetoric against people from other cultures and countries.

Feeling Overwhelmed By These Dark Expressions?

Neptune in Aries

• A demoralizing sense of futility and pointlessness, coupled with weakness and lack of confidence, can lead to paralysis. This can result in feeling unprepared for life’s challenges. Unfocused or stalled willpower can lead to procrastination.

Uranus in Gemini

• Nervous restlessness and overstimulation can keep your mind racing. You feel overwhelmed by a flood of information and misinformation. Life feels overwhelmingly chaotic.

Neptune Sextile Pluto

• States of confusion and loss of reference, coupled with profound illusions or delusions, can lead to weakened purpose or willpower. This can feel like dissolving or disintegration. You don’t know whether to force something or just go with the flow.
• You feel inundated by intense surges of challenging emotions. Because you don’t know how to heal them, you habitually push them back down. But these painful emotions won’t stay stuffed, and keep threatening to overwhelm you.

Uranus Sextile Neptune

• A feeling of strange energies can lead to confusion and disorientation, resulting in states of hypersensitivity and instability. You can also feel tired and fatigued.

Manifest the High Side Instead

Fortunately, there is a way out! You can also harness the positive, life-affirming potentials of these archetypal combinations:

Neptune in Aries

• Embrace gentle and resilient strength as you cultivate a flexible approach to life. A soft ego and relaxed confidence can help you move effortlessly and smoothly. You can feel when being is better than doing. Trust your inner radar and sensitivity, following the path of least resistance to create change without arousing opposition.
• Foster synergy with others through compassionate action and enlightened non-action. Embrace the ideal of being in the world but not of it, acting without attachment to results. Serve the less fortunate humbly, energized by your passion and faith.
• Avoid the futility of war and conflict by transmuting aggression into peaceful actions. Consider imitating Gandhi’s tactic of neutralizing aggression through active pacifism and passive resistance. (This just worked in Minneapolis.)

Uranus in Gemini

• Your higher self always knows what’s authentic. Develop a clear channel of communication with it, and ask it whenever you need to know if something is the real deal.
• Ongoing surprises and anomalies bring unexpected information and surprising synchronicities to guide you. This lets you take pleasure in surfing the shifting waves and currents of these unpredictable times.

Uranus Trine Pluto & Pluto in Aquarius

• The titanic quest for human freedom and individuation, combined with the monumental assertion of human reason and willpower, drives impulses toward reform and renewal. This quest fuels progress and transformation through the forces of evolution and revolution, unleashing power and intensifying rebellious urges.
• Driving feelings of higher purpose and direction create a sense of human history being drawn toward a transcendent evolutionary goal. You feel inspired to play your part in this epic undertaking to serve the highest good of all.
• There is an epic struggle for advancement in democratic and civil rights, female empowerment, and LGBTQ+ rights. The liberation of primal energies and erotic emancipation are also significant. Technological revolutions and ecological awareness reshape society, along with the empowerment of youth.

Neptune Sextile Pluto

• Impulses to find a wider spiritual context for humanity’s darkest behaviors drive efforts to understand the interplay between our higher and lower natures. The instinct to face and take responsibility for your shadow material leads to a more profound spirituality. The profound catharsis of repressed emotions opens or widens the pathway to divine consciousness. The divine is experienced as all-inspiring and powerful, and can be experienced by dissolving into spirit.

Uranus Sextile Neptune

• Breakthroughs and revolutions in consciousness lead to quantum leaps in awareness, inspiring a new spirit and a change of realities. This journey fosters a universal rebirth of vision and transcendence.
• You awaken to a higher level which replaces confusion and disorientation with spiritual clarity and a new baseline of embodied awakening. At this level, you’re large enough to comfortably contain the same energies that were previously challenging. Your new divine connection replaces tiredness and fatigue with boundless energy and vitality.

A Hopeful Vision

Throughout history, it’s when the dark side seems unstoppable that the forces of love and light rise up and triumph!

Trump and his retrograde ideas may be in ascendance now, but the pendulum always swings both ways. When those of lower consciousness use archetypal forces in destructive and self-serving ways, you can help weave a better reality by using the archetypes’ high-vibration potentials.

What if, at the soul level, you’ve made a clear and conscious choice to be alive right now at this time of great challenge? What if your core mission is to hold the highest divine consciousness you can, while acting in service to love and light according to your inner guidance?

New Signs

All three outer planets have moved into new signs, and will lock into them by late April of 2026. All these new signs are air or fire, which are masculine and assertive.

Pluto locked into Aquarius in late 2024 and stays there through early 2044. Pluto in Aquarius has a similar energy to the great Uranus-Pluto conjunction that gave the 1960s their radical character. Its revolutionary motto could be “Big change now!”

Neptune entered Aries in late March 2025, then locked into the Sign of the Ram in late January 2026. Neptune in Aries adds drive, passion, fire, and initiation to all the Neptune high side potentials already mentioned. (Including my favorite, spiritual awakening!)

Uranus entered Gemini in early July of 2025, then locks into Gemini in late April of 2026. Uranus in Gemini electrifies brilliant breakthrough thinking. This is exactly what humanity needs to get through the huge challenges we’re facing.

Recent Global Shifts From Two Outer Planets

Why are the outer planets called the “gods of change”? Because when they line up in certain ways, major transformation happens!

One well-known example is the Uranus-Pluto conjunction. This world-changing aspect was felt throughout the 60s and early 70s. Its radical “big change now!” energy revolutionized people and countries everywhere.

The potent Uranus-Neptune conjunction was strong from the late 80s through the late 90s. It coincided with the collapse of the Soviet Union and the end of the Cold War. More equitable societal structures arose around the world. The internet took off. And huge numbers of people started exploring spiritual awakening and alternative spirituality.

These were two-planet combinations. But what’s happening now involves all three outer planets. With the game-changing energies of Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto combined, the effects will be even more transformative!

Once In A  Lifetime

How unusual is this? There hasn’t been an alignment of the three outer planets this powerful since the 1770s. 250 years ago, an outer planets Grand Trine (an equilateral triangle) coincided with the US Declaration of Independence.

What about the future? We won’t have another outer planets alignment this strong (another Minor Grand Trine) until the 2190s. That’s 170 years from now.

This really is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!

Saturn Conjunct Neptune

Saturn conjoins Neptune on 2/20 at 11:54 am EST (0°45′ Aries). These two planets only come together about every 36 years.

This is a match made in heaven for three things: Law of Attraction manifestation, dissolving structures that don’t serve you, and embodying divine consciousness in your everyday life.

Law of Attraction

One great way to use Saturn-Neptune aspects is with Law of Attraction work. In this context, Neptune represents visualization and imagination, while Saturn represents crystallization and material manifestation.

Dissolution

Another of the archetypal possibilities of this aspect is the dissolution (Neptune) of the structures (Saturn) that don’t serve you. These structures could be physical or energetic: material objects, relationships, ways of thinking and ways of being.

Mercury Retrograde

Mercury turns retrograde on 2/26 at 1:48 am EST (22°33′ Pisces). The winged messenger will turn direct again on 3/20 at 3:33 pm EDT (8°29′ Pisces).

The Usual Advice

As always, Mercury retrograde is better for reflection than new action – although it’s a great time for repairs and completing what you’ve already started. If possible, delay major purchases and contract signings until Mercury is direct.

Travel and communication may be more challenging than usual, so double check your arrangements. Take care that you clearly understand what you’re being told and are being properly understood. And back up important data!

Pisces

Mercury reverses course entirely within Pisces. This is a great time to reflect on the final sign’s positive potentials.

These include spiritual awakening, expressing inspired creativity, and operating “in the zone.” Pisces also supports working with dreams and embodying deeper unconditional love and compassion.

It can also be helpful to recognize if you’re being challenged by any of Pisces’ more difficult possibilities. These include substance abuse, addiction, aimless drifting, or victim roles.

If any of these are problematical, focus on Pisces’ higher expressions. And be sure to get help from others if you need it.

Healing for Committed Partnerships

Any challenges you’re experiencing in a committed partnership could be stirred up – and possibly healed – with help from a Thor’s Hammer.

This intense aspect pattern includes Juno, Chiron, and the South Node of the Moon. It starts on 2/24, peaks on 3/9, and ends on 3/21.

Most people think of romance when they hear “committed partnership.” But such an abiding relationship could also involve family, friendship, business, or an adversarial relationship.

The asteroid goddess Juno contributes the committed partnership theme. Chiron is the wounded healer, and can represent both the trauma getting stirred up and its ultimate healing. Chiron’s placement in Aries fires up his power.

Finally, the South Node holds the past life trauma you came to heal during this incarnation. It also offers skills you’ve developed in prior lives to accomplish this important shadow work. As a bonus, the South Node is in Virgo, the sign of healing!
